United Parcel Service will cut up to 30,000 operational roles and shut another 24 facilities in 2026, the world's largest package delivery company said on Tuesday, as part of a planned shift toward higher-margin shipments.
UPS executive said the delivery company is moving to cut costs and plans to offer a voluntary separation program for full-time drivers.
The delivery company said it was planning the cuts this year because it expected to deliver fewer packages for Amazon, a large but unprofitable customer.

The United Parcel Service, more commonly known as UPS, announced Tuesday that it was planning to eliminate an additional 30,000 jobs in 2026. The company eliminated about 48,000 jobs in 2025, 34,000 of which were operational and 14,000 of which were management.
With over 11,000 jobs lost in 2025, New Jersey's job landscape is fragile as UPS hints at big cuts, leaving employees anxious about their futures.
A UPS spokesperson said Worldport hub, ramp and management employees should not report to work for Sunday’s Second Day Air operations.
Amazon said on Wednesday it was cutting 16,000 jobs worldwide in the second major round of layoffs at the company in three months, as it restructures after pandemic-era over-hiring and expands the adoption of artificial intelligence tools.
